Child Health Made Simple

Newborn to about 13–15 years, explained simply. Many changes are normal variations, but not everything is — when in doubt, ask your paediatrician.

Seek urgent care now if a child has trouble breathing, bluish lips, a seizure, unusual drowsiness, repeated vomiting or dehydration, a stiff neck or a rash that doesn't fade on pressure, severe pain, or any fever in a baby under 3 months.

Newborn care

Feeding, sleep, jaundice, crying and the first weeks at home.

Feeding & growth

Weaning, picky eating and healthy weight gain.

Common illnesses

Fever, cough, cold, tummy upsets — what's normal and what's not.

When should I call the paediatrician?

Call promptly for fever in babies under 3 months, breathing difficulty, poor feeding, unusual sleepiness, dehydration, or whenever you feel something is wrong.

My toddler refuses food. Is that normal?

Fussiness is common, but check growth with your doctor. Offer small portions, eat together, and avoid pressure.

How much screen time is okay?

Keep screens away from meals and bedtime, and prefer shared, interactive use.
